Dad was a traveling salesman. I don’t think any of us would have cared to join him for a week on the road. Mom was an office manager and my first real summer jobs were at her office. Jobs were hideously boring but the people were great.
Late evening we sing “kitten treats, kitten treats, kitty kitty kitty treats, who wants treats” accompanied by the alluring sound of the treat box being shaken. Repeat until all cats assemble and then deal out the treats. Also effective when all cats need to be found for any reason.
My good news of the morning…we are cleaning out a vacation place that we just sold. Yesterday a local church member came by to pick up our donation of kitchen items, household goods, linens, etc. This morning I got a fax that many items went right out that afternoon to a family escaping an abusive situation. So we were pleased that the things are put to good use already.
Part of that reputation is their appearance with docked ears and tail. Pinterest has a page of photos of Dobies with natural ears and tails as an example. They look like the friendliest dogs around.
It is the response to “the Lord be with you” in traditional liturgical denominations. There is a possibly true story of the first episode of the Star Wars films being attended by a large group of (insert choice of denomination) who responded to the first iteration of “the Force be with you” with “and also with you”.
Our evening meal incantation sounds like a waiter announcing the day’s Chef Special. “This evening we are serving ( insert flavor of can from variety pack ) with a side of Crunchy Kibble! Breakfast is a repeat as each can is divided into 6 portions for 3 cats times 2 meals.
